Welcome to the draGnet (2005)

Well, what do you know? While I was on holiday, my first year blogversary passed quietly and without fuss on November 7th. Yay for me, w00t, etc.

For those happening upon this weblog for the first time, allow me to introduce myself and this finally-one-year-old journal. This is me:

Hotwire My Heart
The bottomless me

I'm Miss K (not my given name, you understand, more a nom de plume, or a nom de travesti, if you like) and I like to describe myself as a transgendered z-list celebrity. This isn't just because I don't get invited to the sort of parties that even c-list celebs get invited to, but also because my name has gained a certain, faded repute, probably due to my huge age and the fact that I've had a well known website for quite a large portion of the time I took reaching my current, aforementioned, huge age.

And also because of Six Inch Killaz, my old band, which I guess is as fine and tawdry a claim to fame as you might wish for. I'm part way through writing a personal memoir of my time with the KIllaz.

You can also read through a clearing list of links that I maintain at the old Killaz homepage for more info and one or two interviews I've done that focus on my time in the Killaz. All I will say now is that we never talked to Alan McGee about signing for Creation Records, and Jasmine never felt up Liam Gallagher at one of our gigs. And that's the truth.

I started this weblog about a year ago as I wanted an outlet for my ideas. I'm very much an ideas person and I'm often guilty of not letting those ideas out, and I thought the weblog form was a really good way of airing some (especially the writerly ones) I had and holding them up to scrutiny.

A few highlights on this blog:

In real life I co-own a company who specialise in designing and building websites, predominantly content managed ones of a certain complexity. I'm also in a band, Electric Shocks. I think a few copies of our debut album are still available.

(cough. birthday, cough. 19th December. cough. Wishlist in sidebar, cough...)

Seriously, I've really enjoyed the first year of the draGnet and I'd reeeeally like to thank all the friends who've read and commented on my musings so far.

I'm especially indebted to my good friend Lindsay who helped me work out what I wanted from my blog - she's a hugely talented writer and total lunatic. Go and say hello! Also a big thanks to Erika who gave me a lot of criticism and support when I was putting the thing together at the start.

Anyway, as you already know if you follow my weblog, what I mainly do is write about a whole bunch of crap and rubbish, even occasionally about transgendered stuff. I even did some make-up tips once!

I hope you enjoy it. I certainly do.
